thank you :: praying for my kids

Can you believe that November is in just a few days?! I am gearing up for my next 30 Days to begin…Being Thankful. I know, I know…that’s easy because it’s Thanksgiving and that’s what you do then. But I want more than just a day (let’s be honest…a few minutes on that day) to share what I’m thankful for. And I don’t want to just give thanks, but to embrace my everyday blessings. Just like in the book One Thousand Gifts, I find myself asking, “How do we find joy in the midst of deadlines, debt, drama and daily duties?”. I believe we find it by being thankful for the life we have and everything in it. So this next month I will be telling God thank you and involving my kids in the journey too. I hope you are signed up to join me (sign up here)!

But before I jump into November, there are still a few more days of this month and praying for my kids. So what’s more appropriate than to pray for them to be thankful!

Today’s virtue to pray: THANKFULNESS

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe… (Hebrews 12:28).

I love how this verse begins. We have so much to be thankful for and a kingdom that cannot be shaken is indeed first on the list! And our thankfulness is another way of worshipping God. So I pray that my kids are challenged in their thankfulness this next month as we point out our every day blessings and that it becomes a habit for our every day lives. More importantly, that God is honored through it all!

PS…I’m envisioning yellow sticky notes everywhere in our kitchen with our blessings! Start thinking how you will record your blessings too.
