The exhaustion has set in. And I have to admit, my heart is growing so weary. I’m tired.
I’m tired of fighting.
I’m tired of being away from my family.
I’m tired of tears.
I’m just plain tired.
We need you to hold us up.
In Exodus 17, the Israelites were fighting the Amalekites. Moses went to the top of the hill with the staff of God in his hands. And when his hands were lifted high, the Israelites were winning. But when he lowered his hands, they were losing.
But Moses had friends. Just like we have you. They stood there with him. They pulled up a rock for him to sit on and then they held up his hands when Moses grew tired.
So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. … Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner. (Exodus 17:11-15)
We know we will overcome this, but for today, we need you to stand beside us. We need you to pray.
Here are our prayer requests…
- Pray that Ben and I are emotionally and physically renewed.
- Pray for Bennett. Last night he was admitted into the hospital because his immune system was low (neutropenia) and he had a fever. More than likely he will be there for the weekend.
- Pray for Davis and Reide to feel loved this weekend. They got to Memphis last night and within two hours, we had to send Bennett to the hospital.
- Pray that we would find a place here in Memphis for all of us to live. We are desperate for our family to be together.
I’m comforted just knowing we are not alone. Thank you friends.
