I’m having one of those days where I feel like my kids are doing everything BUT obeying. Have you been there? It doesn’t matter what I do or say, I think they have plotted against me. So my best weapon…to pray obedience over them:)
Today’s virtue to pray: OBEDIENCE
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. (Colossians 3:20)
Whenever my five year old and three year old disobey, it’s routine in our home to quote this verse. If you’ve read any of my other posts this month, you will notice that this is pretty regular for our family…we try and use scripture as our foundation in parenting and involve the kids in using it too. So I start out by saying, “Children…” and then I wait for them to complete the verse. And this is one of those habits that you don’t wait until they are older to start. Even if they can only say a few words, repetition will help it to sink in even faster.
So tonight I’m praying for hearts that desire to please me and the hubby through immediate obedience, hearts that obey teachers and other adults and most importantly hearts that obey the Lord. And while I’m at it, I’m going to pray for my patience in understanding they are just little people that are being molded and shaped, learning along the way. I can’t expect them to be perfect…that’s not fair to them. They will make mistakes. So it’s my job for them to know that in these times, they are safe, they are forgiven and we will always love them. Thank you, Lord, that you do this for me too!
