generosity :: praying for my kids

This might be short and sweet tonight. I’m exhausted. Just plain tired. And honestly, in kind of a bad mood. So I am going to power through this because even in the midst of my bad mood, I made time to pray over my kiddos. How we are feeling should never keep us from praying.

Today virtue to pray: GENEROSITY

Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. (1 Timothy 6:18)

I don’t know about your kids, but mine never fight. They always share with each other and say only encouraging things in a sweet tone. Do you believe that? If you know my kids at all, you know that is completely false (just look at that picture of them)! We deal with the lack of generosity in many ways around here. Typically it comes in the form of not sharing. What is it with kids and being so possessive of their things?

But I love the end of the verse in 1 Timothy, “…always being ready to share with others.” What if we were all just ready? I love that. I want that for my kids. I want that for me. Whenever I do see the kids going above and beyond in sharing, I say a part of 2 Corinthians 9:7, “God loves…” and they finish with “…a cheerful giver.” I always want them to hear when they are cheerful givers with the hopes it makes them want to do it more and more!

So let’s pray our kids are crazy generous…cheerfully giving and sharing with others. The kind of crazy that makes people stop and wonder how they do it or why they do it. And then let’s pray our kids give credit to the Lord!
