Bringing in the New Year

I will be honest, I didn’t really want to bring in the New Year last night. Facebook was filled with everyone’s resolutions and all I could think of was how difficult the start of 2014 would be. This will probably be one of the hardest years we experience as a family.

So how do I start this year off right knowing what is up ahead? This is how (I highlighted the really good parts)…

As all the men of Judah stood before the LORD with their little ones, wives, and children, the Spirit of the LORD came upon one of the men standing there. His name was Jahaziel son of Zechariah, son of Benaiah, son of Jeiel, son of Mattaniah, a Levite who was a descendant of Asaph. He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow, march out against them. You will find them coming up through the ascent of Ziz at the end of the valley that opens into the wilderness of Jeruel. But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the LORD’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the LORD is with you!”Then King Jehoshaphat bowed low with his face to the ground. And all the people of Judah and Jerusalem did the same, worshiping the LORD. Then the Levites from the clans of Kohath and Korah stood to praise the LORD, the God of Israel, with a very loud shout. (2 Chronicles 20:13-19)

YES! This battle is not mine. I need to take my position in trusting the Lord and watch His victory. And this WILL BE His victory.

Does this excite you like it does me? And it brings such peace too. Such comfort.

So one day at a time is how I will handle 2014.

It started off good as we snuggled today with our baby and watched movies.

Tomorrow, Bennett has a hearing test. And please pray because he has to be sedated and can’t eat or drink at all in the morning (that will not be fun).

And the best part of tomorrow…Davis and Reide are coming to see us. Oh be still my heart. I miss my babies and can’t wait to hold them!

PS…Anyone want to memorize those verses above with me? I think they are good ones to have on the heart at all times.

  1. Dear Jesus, as the New Year begins you know the mountain that Ben and Megan and their beautiful family is facing. You said if we have faith as small as a mustard seed we can tell the mountain to move and it will move. Dear Jesus, baby Bennett’s illness is bigger than any of us but is not bigger than you or God our Father. The Coleman’s need to feel your love and strength at this time. They possess that mustard seed of faith dear Lord. Please let them feel all of our love and prayers to bring healing to Baby Bennett as we know only you can. Guide the doctors and show them how to effectively treat Baby Bennett. May his health be restored to him so that their family can be reunited soon.
Father God keep all of the their family safe as they travel for visits.
In Jesus’ awesome name I pray. Amen!
